This is not only one of the most important processes in logistics, but is often also the most expensive area. The demands on assortment, variety, the shop itself and of course the delivery time are constantly increasing. Therefore, it is important to select and analyse the best picking strategy based on various parameters.
Rolling picking combines the collection of goods (picking) and the sorting to different customer orders in one. This strategy proves particularly useful for larger, daily incoming orders. Pick lists can thus be generated at regular intervals and the orders processed simultaneously.

How does it work?
In order-related picking (also called rolling picking), boxes are packed according to the order. These boxes are placed on a picking trolley, which the employee carries with him during processing. Each storage location of trolley and rack is equipped with pick2light technology.
The employee marries the order and the box on the trolley with the help of the ERP system or the ix.tech system.
(S)he is then guided through the warehouse in a route-optimised manner. The respective storage location to be approached is visualised with a predefined colour by means of the LED eye-catching light in the pick2light module.
In addition, the pick2light module on the trolley shows the employee in which box the retrieved item is to be placed. Alphanumeric display also shows the number of items. The process can be acknowledged with the help of an accompanying MDE device, e.g. the back of the hand scanner, ix.mate or on the module itself. This way, the employee has both hands free to pick the goods and does not have to carry annoying hardware or paper lists.
In this way, all items are picked and the employee is guided sequentially through the process.
Once all orders have been picked into boxes, they can be taken directly to the packing station. There is no need for further separation at the sorting station.
